Role of muslims and Non Muslims in developing a community at Medina

Role of muslims and Non Muslims in developing a community at Medina
There were two categories of Muslims in Medina. One category consisted of those who were already settled in Medina called Ansars while others were those who migrated from Mecca, called Muhajireen. Most of the Muhajireen were poor as they left all of their belongings in Mecca. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) established the brotherhood between both of them. The Ansars helped a lot all of the Muhajireens after the establishment of this brotherhood. They took the Muhajireens at their homes and provide them every possible facility. They exercised the best practice of hospitality. It was also appreciated in the holy Quran as well in the words like:

“Those who Believe, emigrate, struggle in Allah’s way and those who give shelter and help, they indeed are the true believers. For them will be forgiveness and honorable provision”.

After establishing the brotherhood among the Muslims, our holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) focused to establish good relations with the Jews. few tribes of the Jews were residing in the suburbs of the Medina. They were residing in the form of tribes and some forts were under their control. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) had realized that it is necessary to get the support of the Jews for sustainable peace in Medina. It was also necessary to increase the defense especially in case of an attack by the Quraish. The tribes of Jews were called to be agreed on a treaty called the charter of Medina. According to this charter, the defense of Medina was the responsibility of both the parties i.e. the Jews and the Muslims. Through this charter of Medina, our holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) considered as the leader in Medina and made it possible to establish sustainable peace there.

Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) called the Jews to get their opinions for the safety of Medina. In the end, the Jews were given complete independence to practice their religion in Medina and none of the Muslims will interfere in it while both will work as allies in case of an attack on Medina and the Jews will favor the Muslims in the defense of Medina. Besides that, the guarantee for the life and property of the Jews was also given in Medina. As a result of this treaty, our holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) emerged as an ultimate leader of the city of Medina.
