Just beside the holy Quran, Hadith is also a source of Islamic Fiqah (jurisprudence) which is used to explain the message of the Holy Quran in detail. The main focus of the Holy Quran is on the oneness of the ALLAH Almighty and the teachings of Muhammad (Peace be upon him) should be followed and obeyed by the followers of Islam. It is also said in the Holy Quran as well that “Obey the ALLAH Almighty and obey the messenger of Him”. This ayat clearly indicates that all the Muslims should follow the orders of ALLAH and his messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him) in the whole life. 

If we consider only the pillars of Islam, we can’t have much more details about Namaz, Zakat, Roza, and Hajj in the Holy Quran. Although there are many ayat on these topics that can be found in the Holy Quran but these ayat provide the only overview of the topic and not the details are given. The details of these topics are given in the hadith.

There are many times the instructions are given in the Holy Quran but it is hadith that explains how many times we should pray in the day. Which are essential or Farz prayers and which are not essential like Fajar, Zohar, Asar, Maghrib, and Isha are the prayers which can’t be left at any cost while Tahajjud and Ashraq are not essential. These are Nafal prayers. 

In the same way, we can find the details of Rakat of the Prayers in hadith. Their times are also discussed in hadith.

If we talk about Fasting or Roza, the details are also given in the hadith as how the fast could be a break and how to protect us from breaking of fast. What is allowed in the fasting and what is not allowed in the fasting, all detail is given in hadith.

Zakat or charity is also an important topic to be discussed here. Quran says to pay the Zakat but when it becomes essential to be paid? What is the ratio of Zakat with the assets? It is essential on gold only or on all the assets? It is on assets only or agricultural land also comes under Islamic teachings as well? All answers to these questions are available in detail in different hadith.   

Hadith is also a message of the ALLAH Almighty. Some of the Hadith are considered as Hadith-e-Qudsi means that it is the message given by the Allah Almighty and as it is conveyed by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). No words changed while explaining the message.

So it is very clear that hadith is also an important source of Islamic Fiqah and source of guidance for the followers of Islam.
